Joni Mazzola is a Florida Licensed Attorney and Florida Supreme Court-certified mediator in the areas of family, circuit and county court matters. With over two decades of combined experience in law, business operations, and public service, Joni brings both legal know-how and real-life perspective to the table—and not just the legal kind. Joni tended bar during law school and later owned a café which she eventually sold to study for the Florida Bar exam. So, she’s no stranger to tough crowds, chaotic episodes, and the art of sending satisfied customers home in a timely manner.
Joni has represented clients in all stages of family and civil litigation, including divorce, parenting plans, estate disputes, real property conflicts, and breach-of-contract claims—experience which helps her quickly identify core legal issues and lead parties toward lasting, workable solutions. In addition to her legal practice and private mediation business, Joni has provided public access to free court mediation. For three years, she served as a volunteer mediator and traveled weekly to courthouses across five Florida counties.
Joni doesn’t just believe in mediation—she’s built a business around it. Through years of litigation experience, Joni has seen too many clients drain their bank accounts long before ever reaching a final hearing. With attorney’s fees often exceeding $450 per hour, the cumulative cost of every phone call, email, and document review can cripple families financially and take a deep emotional toll. And so, Joni based her mediation practice on a simple guiding philosophy: Life is short. Don’t spend it in court.SM
Joni holds a J.D. from the University of Akron School of Law and a B.A. in Psychology, summa cum laude, from Kent State University. She lives and practices in Vero Beach, where she also serves on the Board of Directors for the Indian River County Bar Association. Known for her approachable style, ability to read a room—even a virtual room—and a firm belief that conflict resolution doesn’t have to mean emotional warfare, Joni brings both heart and humor to her work. She’d love to say she’s also known for her expert woodworking skills—but really, it’s just her, some power tools, a long-term relationship with YouTube, and trial-and-error.
