Amity Mediation Workshop, LLC provides divorce mediation for couples who want to go through the divorce process without retaining attorneys.  With our guidance, our clients are able to engage in an amicable process that empowers them to build their own agreements, remain on friendly terms, and avoid lengthy and expensive litigation. Our approach can help you save family resources and reach mutual agreements on all of your current issues, so you can build a stable future, rather than be stuck rehashing the past. Our primary service area is along Florida’s Emerald Coast – Pensacola to Apalachicola.

Jamie C. Williamson, PhD

Jamie C. Williamson, PhDDr. Jamie C. Williamson is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator, a member of the Florida Academy of Professional Mediators, and President of Amity Mediation Workshop, LLC.  A social psychologist with a doctorate in interpersonal communication and family relationships, she authors the blog “Work it Out”, which provides guidance to couples trying to improve the quality of their relationship and remain friendly, whether they stay together or not.  Jamie’s strengths include her extensive professional experience, her deep understanding of relationships, and her ethic of care.  As a mediator, her goal is to empower couples to simplify and de-stress during the divorce process, remain friendly during and after the divorce, and most importantly, resolve issues in a way that serves the needs of all involved, especially the children.

Dr. Williamson joined the mediation profession after a 30-year career in higher education. She began her academic career as a faculty member teaching and conducting research on personal and professional relationships.  Her primary interest is communication during relationship development and dissolution, as well as the predicaments that create relationship distress such as conflict, deception, jealousy, and communication about sex.

Early in her career, Jamie was a communication professor at the University of Florida and the University of West Florida.  Later, she served as a communication professor and dean at Saint Louis University; as vice president for academic affairs at Baker University, Millikin University, and Butler University; and, as president of Winthrop University. She also provided thought leadership and directed the Executive Leadership Group at the American Council on Education (ACE), in Washington D.C.

Dr. Williamson earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Illinois State University, and a Doctorate from the University of Arizona.  She is widely published in the area of interpersonal communication and has a national reputation in higher education.  Jamie also is a frequent contributor to the Huffington Post.  She has been the recipient of awards for professional achievement, community service, teaching excellence, scholarship, and mentoring over the course of her professional career.

Larry A. Williamson

Larry A. WilliamsonAs Chief Operations Officer, Larry A. Williamson brings knowledge and experience that supports many of the aspects associated with divorce.  His professional and life experiences have uniquely qualified him in areas of personal and business finance, investments, and government regulation. He has held senior professional positions in major financial institutions like Regions Morgan Keegan Trust, Merrill Lynch, and Pentagon Federal Credit Union.  His resume includes service in several branches of  government such as the Kansas Dental Board, the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support, and as a staff member of the U.S. Congress.

Mr. Williamson has served in several leadership positions at the University of West Florida, and was Vice President for University Advancement at Maryville University in St. Louis, MO.  He taught political science as Professional-in-Residence at Butler University in Indianapolis, His research focus is U.S. foreign policy and public diplomacy. His book, The Last Three Feet: An Action Plan for Public Diplomacy in the Information Age, was published in 2007.

During a thirty-year career (both active and reserve duty) in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Williamson completed multiple tours of duty including as Battle Force Logistics Officer and Assistant Chief of Staff for the Amphibious Task Force during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.  He provided on-shore representation for the Commander of the U.S. Seventh Fleet in South Korea.  He retired at the rank of Captain.

Mr. Williamson holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Baylor University, and a Master’s Degree from the University of Kansas.
